Here at the end of the year it’s good to look back at some things and thank your lucky stars that you arrived safely out the other side….
Work-wise this time last year I was steeling myself up to raise a complaint about my immediate manager who had been bullying and harassing me for nearly three years. I was ready to walk out after 21 years service so felt that I had nothing to lose.
But the complaint was taken seriously and my manager was changed to avoid anymore of his ‘certain management style’. Trouble was – the new one came from the same training school – all my staff left and by May .. I had a breakdown totally due to ‘stress at work’.
My doctor advised me to get a new job – not the best time to do that but I was up for it. After all he had told me he wouldn’t sign me off until I found one!
Three months later after many a dodgy interview I found and accepted my new job. Its still early days really but I’m having so much fun – its scary, and I actually look forward to attending. The company is young and exciting and we celebrate our successes. If you are reading this Boss I will expect a good comment!
Life-wise – during my enforced time off I got better, which was a good thing… panic attacks are not pleasant and I also learned to blog on a regular basis. Mostly due to my son’s insistence – he was trying to keep me sane and it worked. Of course I’d already got three sites but was only really keeping up with the dog blog – so iRamble started round about then and still goes on.
My family were all amazing while all this was going on and of course the inevitable happened – I bonded enormously with Hippie, my daughter’s gorgeous greyhound and considering I was not a ‘dog person’ that was amazing….andย she made me go out when I didn’t want to! My partner went into building mode and put a new roof on my carport so there were no more leaks. And my daughter and I relaxed in the hot tub in our new enclosed carport whilst laughing at silly jokes.
So my new year has really already started I think, with a new me! Not so many frown lines and still with the same crazy hair colour I will see 2009 start with a smile – this time last year I really didn’t think I would be enjoying life so much a year on.
Thank you to all my family and friends for all the support and all my blogging friends for the nice comments!
Happy New Year to you all!!!
Happy New Year to you as well Kate. It sounds as if you are starting 2009 from the right place, less stress and more time to experience the little pleasures. All the best to you and your family.

It still worries me what I may have unleashed setting you off blogging! I only have to look at your Google Reader to realise what I’ve done…. Heck, I even sent you on that first Spanish course, I’m getting a bit of a talent for this!!
It’s been a pretty amazing year, and you appear to have come through it relatively sane (sanity is always relative isn’t it?!?!?).
Happy New Year!!!!!

Thank you Cortes and DP…and yes Keiron you do have a lot to answer for…I forgot to mention I passed my third Spanish course last year and started on my fourth, es un poco mas dificil ahora pero muy divertido!!!! Gracias mi hijo!
It’s funny what ‘pushes’ you into new things, and I do believe eveything happens for a reason ….. this blogging lark just let you let ourt what you feel, and you can say what you like. Also, puts you in touch with some people you would never meet up with … so, onto 2009, and who knows what is around the corner, good ir bad… exciting eh ??

Hi Kate – you did not miss the recipes, I did not get around to posting them. I will try to get to it this weekend.
Cortes´s last blog post..Happy New Year
Hi Kate, you are an infectious person whom it is fun and interesting to be around. Since joining our small team you have made a strong impression and am looking forward to sharing many more successes during 2009.
Oh and the laptop is working fine from home, am writing this comment using it and contemplating setting up “a bring back Windows XP ” blog.
Having a rant as it is all a bit crazy when PC buyers are virtually forced to adopt an operating system which is disliked.
Shame on companies like Dell who force customers to purchase Vista, well done to HP for giving customers a choice. Historically our small business has purchased Dell PC’s but for 2009 we are moving to HP.
It is really time for more people to start choosing OpenSource, then Microsoft might start to put the customer first.
Regards
Geri – Happy New Year to you too – I hope you are feeling better now?
Aussie lady… you’re a sweetie, thank you. Happy new year! x
Cortes: Thank you – I look forward to some Canadian culinary efforts from my kitchen….. I love cooking!!!
Hey Boss – so the laptop does not need to go back after all – Hooray!! Thats a first for me, I normally break not mend them.
And… I get my new computer and it will have XP!!!!
See you on Monday!
Happy New Year, Kate! Wow, sounds like I’m not the only one who had a rather ‘up and down’ 2008. Still, onwards and upwards, eh? Glad to have found you, my friend xx
