Is it only a month since we came back from Tenerife? So much has happened since and this last week was no exception.
The week started with my sister in law ( who lives on Tenerife, and with whom we spent some lovely times during our holiday) having a double heart bypass operation in a hospital in Santa Cruz. She had gone to have her angina investigated, and after investigating the doctors would not let her out without having the bypass. Thank God they found it, and bless her, reports from my brother say she is doing well and hopefully is back at home as I write this…..
Then on Tuesday my steri-strips and dressing were removed – at last I could see exactly what had been done to my elbow.
So now its down to rubbing Bio oil into the scar and trying to desensitise it – its going quite well except I get some strange electric shock type feelings….but no numbness or pins and needles – so obviously it has all worked quite well.
We were very busy at work all week but one day there was a knock on the office door and a young lady stood there clutching a teddy bear. She said it was a raffle prize with all proceeds going to a children’s charity, for a £1 donation I could choose a name from the card and if my choice was correct I would win the bear…… and guess what? ….. I did!
Here he is..
What a surprise – I never win as a rule..
Fuelled with this new found luck – I bought a lottery ticket yesterday, well why not?
My partner and I had spent a happy time planning what we would do if I won … the big prize of course … not just a tenner. Of course this was done safe in the knowledge that I wouldn’t win, not even a tenner but where would we be without our dreams?
Of course I didn’t win but maybe next time?
Today I had planned to get some weeding done but we have had torrential rain with thunder and lightning all day so I have given up on the idea and been playing in the kitchen instead. My daughter is at work and will be home around 4p.m. so a late lunch of Sunday Dinner Pie is on the menu. I’m sure it will look better when it has been cooked.
And hopefully it will taste good too!
Healing wishes for your Sister-in-law, indeed a good thing they found it when they did. Hopefully she is back home and doing well.
I loved the pie, it looks like a lot of love went into making it! Did you take a photo of after it was baked? 🙂
I don’t win ‘anything’….ever, as a rule. I still keep playing different things occasionally, especially for charity, as I keep hoping the tide will turn.
The elbow looks to have healed nicely. I have heard of the little electric shocks after a surgery like that before. Hopefully it will improve for you as time goes on. Good that there is no numbness or anything. YAY!
I got a photo of Hippie in play this time, was a sweetie!

Thank you so much my friend – I am still waiting to hear if she has gone home – yesterday my brother was hopeful though…
The pie – well it still has not been baked – Toria is still at work but I will try and get a picture after cooking if she gives me time before a well earned lunch!!!
Hippie is a sweetie bless her – she’s very tired today after racing around my partners garden yesterday – and…coming face to face with a fox last night!!!
Yes the elbow seems to be healing well – then it will be the turn of the other one – I’ll be glad when its all over! Thank you for your good wishes!
Wow that’s some war wound you have to show off! Healing nicely though and you can bend it like Beckham already? Poor SIL, must have been all that excitement! I hope she’s recovering and Tenerife? Great place to do it I guess. Pies in summer? Ah. . that’s right, you live in England . . .

Baino – I’ve even had the central heating on today, and that pie was absolutely gorgeous even though I do say it myself!
Yes Tenerife is lovely and so very very warm….I remember it well!!!!
*ouch* *hurrah* *yummy* – I know, I should do professional caption creation for a living – I’d be worth £2 0r £3 by now – tee hee

I was out manning the Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust stall yesterday in all that rain! LOL!
The pie looks delicious – the good ones always look lumpy like that until they’re cooked, and then they look lumpy but yummy. 😉
Your poor SIL! I’m so glad she was treated so promptly, and I bet she’ll be glad too, once the shock has worn off! Your elbow looks great! And as Baino says, you can bend it beautifully already! You must have been doing your physio.
So, what was the teddy called?
Great news about the elbow, and hopefully the next one goes just as well as the first. Congrats on the teddy, I have never won anything either, but I will keep trying, you just never know! And I agree with Jay, the best pies are the lumpy ones! Always big chunks of tasty things inside.

Daddy P – soooo shall I just post photos next time – so that you can practice your captions – for free of course as you are still learning????
Jay – You are very good aren’t you, in that awful weather too – tell me where I can get a ‘greyhound on board’ sticker for my car? We got her pedigree by the way!
You’re right it was yummy!!
I was never told to do any physio – I was just scared that if I didn’t use it it would just stay straight – so it was will power!!
Teddy doesn’t have a name yet – it was all I could do to prise it from the jaws of our errant greyhound – she loves stuffies!!!
Cortes – Thank you! Its good to find someone else who never wins – maybe there’s a teddy out there with your name on it.
Thats the best thing about Sunday Dinner Pies – they have everything in that you would normally find in a sunday roast – trouble is its difficult to fit it all under the crust – but they are lovely!!
Glad your s-i-l was fortunate enough to need check-up at just the right time. This happened to my s-i-l too 10 years ago. Ended with a quadruple by-pass and she has continued healthy and fit to this day.
Glad holiday went well and that your elbow is healing up. Never easy to have baths and showers when one part of us is not allowed to get wet.

Get well soon to your sister-in-law.
Oooh your poor elbow, although it look like it’s really healing well….enjoy your baths and showers minus the condom!
The pie looks wonderful.

Thank you Barbara – it is always good to know a happy outcome of these operations – it was such a shock to us all – she is so young. And yes – it is wonderful to get back to normal baths and showers.
Hi Val -Thank you I’ll pass your wishes on. My elbow is improving daily now – its only a few weeks since the op and I’m amazed how quickly the scar is healing. That pie was lovely – roast beef and horseradish sauce with all the trimmings mmmmmmmmmmm
I hear pint lifting makes great physio for the elbows 😉 Whychwood do a special kit for it!

Brilliant! better get a Wychwoods Physio Pack in (or maybe 2) for the end of the month when your dear old Mum comes to visit, Buggins!!!
I found 12 packs the other week in Sainsbury’s…. Now that’s a serious hat!

Do you think I’ll ever cure you of your delight at putting empty boxes on your head?
This one needs more work – it doesn’t have eyeholes 🙁

Hi Kate – I just came back and found your questions! You can find several ‘Greyhound on board’ stickers on Ebay! Are you sure you want to advertise the fact though?
Oh yeah, and Cara-Lea got back to me about the PJs. She’s had a flood and while she’s starting to sew again, she won’t be opening up the shop for a while, probably not before September. There are plenty of other PJ makers though – have a look on Greytalk in the merchandise section. 🙂
Thanks Jay – I’ll have another look – though I did try there before.
Its only for when I’m taking her out – you know how small my car is with little or no boot and people do get so close – I thought it might make them keep back a little – well, hoped really.
I’ll check out Greytalk too – not been on there for ages! Thank you!
Your scar looks so good. And life has certainly been exciting for you and your extended family. Hope your SIL will recover and be stronger than ever.
Kate,
How is you SIL doing? I hope things are going okay with her.

Glad the surgery went well. That sleeve is a great idea. When I broke my right wrist, I used a large black bin liner and parcel tape. Once in the shower I held my arm in the air. I am sure I looked a sight, but who cares needs must and I live alone. Left hand mouse skills improved 100%! 😉
Grannymar´s last blog post..Food Monday ~ Chorizo Wrapped Chicken Breasts
Coastal Aussie- Thank you so much for your good wishes – I will pass them on. Exciting is right – but it seems to be calming down a bit now, thank goodness!
Sistertex – Thank you so much for asking – I spoke to Sharon last Friday and although she’s a bit breathless ( it hurts to breathe) and feels like she has been run over by a truck – she is at home with her family and that is the place to get well I think!!
Grannymar – Welcome! I tried everything but I think the worst was the clingfilm – still I had quite a laugh. You’re right – it makes us use the other hand … I’m getting ambidextrous!
Glad you and your elbow are getting along so nicely. Give my best to your sister as well. I would have commented earlier but I’ve been recovering myself (had abdominal surgery on the 6th).
Take care.

Isn’t Bio Oil the bee’s knees? I was worried about putting it on new scars until I read this. It’s a toss-up between Bio Oil and Vitamin E. They’re surely the same thing though, aren’t they? I don’t want to get sued.
Hi Kirk – its good to see you up and about again – I do hope things are improving!!!
K8 – its amazing stuff – I don’t know if they are the same I’ll just stick with the one I’ve got. ….. got my post-op appointment tomorrow so I’ll wait and see what the consultant says!
