Well, the new oven is in, after a mild panic when it arrived without a cable ….. but it is in now and working perfectly..
and its cooking a piece of gammon as I type!
And, at last I have found the time to finish our Christmas Cake – the mini ones from my earlier post have all been given away and the big round cake was my next mission.
I wanted to make icicles out of clear mint sweets but wasn’t sure if it would work – so I had piped some royal icing on just in case I had to think of a new design.
It did work though and here it is…
So, another thing finished …..I’m making mince pies tomorrow!
Wow – pretty impressive. The icicles look just like the ones hanging outside my Mum’s kitchen window. To think, we flew all the way from Canada to get away from winter weather, and what do we find when we get here? Snow, snow and more snow. Still, it is very beautiful. Hope you have a great Christmas and your cake tastes as good as it looks.
Merry Christmas Kate, and I hope the new cooker measures up to your obvious talents. Have a wonderful Holiday.
That is an absolutely stunning cake! I’m sooo impressed! I iced my cake tonight, but with a pack of instant ‘unwrap and roll’ fondant icing and a few silver balls. LOL!
God you’re clever! It’s beautiful. Shame to cook in the new oven and a shame to have to cut the cake! I’m feeling pretty lucky that we don’t do the mince pie, cake thing. Mine would look awful. We’re going the chocolate fountain and nectarines, rock melon, peaches and strawbs to dip.
Beautiful. A new over can be quite inspirational! As is your lovely cake. Happy Holidays! Scritches to Hippie and Max. A Christmas hug to you.
oh wow that looks great well done you. I hope you had a great xmas. i had a great day apart from the fact the 3 out of the 4 rings on my mums gas cooker not working which meant i had to cook the bacon and than cook the veg all on the same ring at different times. LOL i was like a DJ doing a set in a nightclub but everyone got fed and shep even got to have some xmas dinner so it was a great day had by all. Say hi to hippy and max for me.
So nice to have a new oven – so clean.
The cake looks gorgious.
DBM- Thank you – that cake was a real high point of our celebrations and the ‘icicles’ held their shape – even when I lit the tea lights….
Cortes- I think I got too used to the old one overheating – it’s quite strange having an oven that works properly!
Jay – Thank you – I think my favourite cakes were the one my Mum used to make – rough iced with little Christmas trees and children on sledges – as long as they taste good eh????
Baino – Not clever, just crazy I think. Its been cut and nearly all eaten – everybody loved it. My daughter says she wants a chocolate fountain having read about yours!!
Sistertex – Thank you and thanks for the hug too… I like them!
Vicky – Thank you and well done you too! I can just picture that – its a good job you know what you’re doing!!!!
Thank you Barbara – yes its still clean at the moment but I know me – all good intentions……
The cake is gorgeous, well done.
I hope you had a lovely Christmas.
