Thank you Barbara – my 92 year old uncle who was the recipient of one of these cakes came to my home for Christmas day and told me it hadn’t been cut because it was too pretty!! He went home with a big chunk of the larger one though – just to tempt him!!!

I used tolove making mine but these days b ut from M & S. Have not even opened this year’s as we are still eating Golden wedding cake!!

I have not used Royal icing for years. One year I iced eleven 8inch cakes… a long story. Never again!

Jay: thank you…. I think next year I’ll just make mini ones – they could prove to be easy Christmas gifts for all!!!! It would save me a lot of shopping time!

Ethelmaepotter: They really were fun to do – but the big one will be interesting – melted down clear mint sweets dripped over my rolling pin to make icicles – watch this space – if it works I’ll put a photo on here and if it doesn’t – well I might show it anyway …as a warning to others!!

Sistertex: Thank you … I used to make and decorate wedding cakes (in a former life) before I had problems with my hands – these little things were far from perfect in my eyes but everyone that has seen them thought they were lovely! And we have tasted the pieces that were cut off – the cake is gorgeous!!!!

Cortes – Why thank you sir!!! Any time, but you have a long flight ahead of you!!!!

Baino: Well there had to be some differences – I’ve always loved cooking… mostly making up recipes – but I do enjoy trying new ones too! My Christmas tree is ‘awesome’ too but I blogged about that last year… don’t want bore people with it again. Maybe I’ll just do a post on fairy lights…I’ve got hundreds of those!

Geri: Well at least the pooch enjoyed it – send your address I’ll happily post you some of this – it’ll take me a year to eat the big one!!!

Rummuser: Another one with a long flight but you are welcome – or maybe you should send your address – I could have the most travelled Christmas Cake for 2009!!!!!

Keiron: They are for the round one – so i haven’t made the icicles from them yet….. If it works I will have to post photos – it should look amazing!
